Sunrisers Hyderabad is nearly out of contention for the playoffs. Following a disappointing performance, one of their bowlers attributed the team’s struggles to the pitch conditions.
In a recent match against the Gujarat Titans, the Sunrisers lost by 38 runs, further diminishing their chances in the current season of the Indian Premier League (IPL). Fast bowler Jaydev Unadkat voiced his concerns regarding the team’s performance.
Unadkat mentioned, “Based on my experience in the IPL, it’s crucial for a team to have three or four bowlers who consistently perform well for overall success. This season, we faced a shortfall in that area. When two of our bowlers are performing, the other three need to provide support.”
He elaborated, “Just as we discuss partnerships in batting, I believe the same principle applies to bowling. If we fail to bowl well from both ends, it creates pressure on the other bowlers, forcing adjustments in our strategy. Accountability for our poor tournament performance lies with the bowlers. Additionally, the pitches have a significant impact. Last year, we encountered flatter surfaces, while this season has presented us with more challenging conditions. This has disrupted our rhythm.”
Last year, the Sunrisers reached the finals, thanks in large part to their batsmen who set new records with their aggressive play. However, this season, the team has struggled to replicate that success and has been eliminated from the tournament. They will now have to look forward to the 2026 season.
