Nayeduniya Correspondent, Dindori. The Kotwali police have uncovered a significant theft incident in Saket Nagar, located across the Narmada bridge near the district headquarters. Two suspects have been arrested in connection with the theft of โ‚น1 lakh in cash and jewelry valued at โ‚น17 lakh.

On Saturday, SP Vahini Singh reported that on April 14, Ram Gopal Tiwari, whose father, the late Mohanlal Tiwari, aged 70, resides in Saket Nagar, filed a complaint at Kotwali. He claimed that during the night of April 5-6, an unidentified individual broke into their home and made off with cash and gold-silver jewelry. The police registered a case against unknown suspects and initiated an investigation.

Jewelry and Cash Hidden in Jabalpur and Vikrampur

  • The Kotwali police chief assembled a team to thoroughly investigate the case. Evidence indicating the involvement of the complainant’s household was discovered based on inspections and technical data. Consequently, family members were interrogated.
  • During questioning, Priya Tiwari, the elder daughter-in-law, along with her partner Asif Khan from Vikrampur, emerged as key suspects. They had taken the stolen goods to Jabalpur and Vikrampur, intending to sell them.
  • Jewelry and cash amounting to โ‚น1 lakh were recovered from their hideouts in Jabalpur and Vikrampur.

Suspects Presented in Court

  • The police managed to recover a total of 130.9 grams of gold jewelry and 3.682 kg of silver jewelry. The total value of the recovered jewelry stands at โ‚น16,26,240, in addition to โ‚น1 lakh in cash, totaling โ‚น17,26,240.
  • Both suspects, Asif Khan from Vikrampur and Priya Tiwari from Saket Nagar, were arrested and presented in court.

Individuals Involved in the Operation

The operation was carried out by Kotwali police chief Durgaprasad Nagpure, along with SI Sanjay Dhurve, ASI Praveen Khamparia, and several other officers, including Cyber Cell personnel and women constables.
