New Delhi: The veteran actor Amitabh Bachchan remains an active presence in the film industry. His illustrious career, which began in 1969, shows no signs of slowing down even after 56 years. At 82 years old, Big B continues to work tirelessly. He is not only one of the most beloved actors in Indian cinema but also one of the most revered. For every artist, collaborating with a legend like Amitabh Bachchan is a cherished aspiration. However, it’s quite astonishing to learn that a famous actress once declined the opportunity to work with him.

Indeed, you read that correctly! When this actress initially rejected the film with Amitabh, she did something that ultimately led her to agree. Amitabh persisted in wanting this particular actress for the film, and when she remained resistant, he took an unexpected step by sending a truck filled with roses to her. The actress in question was none other than the late Sridevi, not Jaya Bachchan or Rekha, as one might assume. Let’s delve into this intriguing story.

Amitabh’s gesture with a truck full of roses
Amitabh Bachchan and Sridevi collaborated in the film ‘Khuda Gawah’, released in 1992. Initially, Sridevi was hesitant about participating in the project. To convince her, Amitabh employed a strategy that was likely beyond her imagination. This incident is documented in the book ‘Sridevi: The Eternal Screen Goddess’. Prior to ‘Khuda Gawah’, Sridevi and Amitabh had worked together in two other films.

When Mukul S. Anand, the director of ‘Khuda Gawah’, approached Big B with the script, he mentioned that Sridevi would be co-starring with him. However, Amitabh felt that since they had already collaborated on two films, it wouldn’t be feasible this time. As a result, Sridevi initially declined the offer. To sway her decision, Amitabh sent a truck filled with roses to Sridevi.

Sridevi’s condition for acceptance
Surprised by Amitabh’s grand gesture, Sridevi still set a condition for her participation in the film. She requested to portray both the mother and daughter roles in ‘Khuda Gawah’. The producers accepted her condition, and she ultimately appeared in a dual role. It is worth noting that the film also featured South actor Nagarjuna and was well-received by audiences.
