While more than 70 percent of the matches have been played, none of the 10 teams have clinched a playoff berth yet. Currently, the Gujarat Titans appear to be close to securing a playoff spot and have a significant chance to finish in the top two, which would offer them an advantage in reaching the finals.
Two teams have already been eliminated from the tournament. The Chennai Super Kings were the first to be ruled out from the playoff race after a loss to Punjab Kings. Shortly after, the Rajasthan Royals also concluded their campaign in this IPL season. Mathematically, eight teams are still battling for a top-four finish, but three of them seem to have slim chances. Lucknow Super Giants, Kolkata Knight Riders, and Sunrisers Hyderabad collectively have only a 20% chance of making it to the playoffs. This situation becomes more critical, as a single defeat for any of these teams could end their chances in IPL 2025.

Delhi Capitals can aim for 20 points
Interestingly, the Delhi Capitals find themselves in a unique position. They began the season strong, winning 5 of their first 6 matches, giving them an 86% chance of qualification at one point. However, after losing 3 out of their last 4 matches, their chances have dropped to 52%. They still have the potential to reach either 18 or 20 points, but will need to perform well in their remaining games.
These teams are on the verge of knockout stages
The top four teams currently in the league are the Gujarat Titans, Royal Challengers Bangalore, Mumbai Indians, and Punjab Kings. Among them, only Punjab Kings have a 70% chance of qualifying, while the other three boast more than 80% likelihood, indicating that they are already positioned for the knockout stage.
Gujarat Titans need a victory to secure playoffs
The Gujarat Titans bolstered their playoff prospects with a recent win against Sunrisers Hyderabad. They now require another victory to solidify their chances. The same applies to Royal Challengers Bangalore. The Mumbai Indians have had a tumultuous season; starting poorly with four losses in five matches, they have since turned things around, achieving six consecutive victories following an impressive win over Delhi Capitals in New Delhi.
