New Delhi. The Chennai Super Kings required 15 runs in the last over to secure victory against the Royal Challengers Bangalore. Captain MS Dhoni was at the crease, supported by Ravindra Jadeja, with Yash Dayal bowling. This was a scenario where the batting team should have easily clinched the match, but unfortunately, that did not occur. CSK managed to score only 12 runs in this over, resulting in their defeat. Following the match, Dhoni acknowledged that he bears significant responsibility for this loss.

This marks the ninth defeat for Chennai Super Kings in IPL 2025. After the game, MS Dhoni expressed, “I believe I could have played a better shot in that moment to relieve the pressure. I failed to do so, and I take the blame for this defeat.” Dhoni contributed 12 runs in the match from 8 balls, including one six and the remainder coming from singles.

The match between RCB and CSK took place on Saturday at M. Chinnaswamy Stadium in Bengaluru. The home team, Royal Challengers Bangalore, posted a score of 213 runs for 5 wickets while batting first. In response, MS Dhoni’s side, CSK, could only reach 211 runs for 5 wickets. Notably, 17-year-old opener Ayush Mhatre scored a remarkable 94 off 48 balls, while Ravindra Jadeja played a valuable unbeaten knock of 77 runs from 45 balls. Despite their efforts, the Chennai Super Kings fell just two runs short of the target.

Earlier in the match, Virat Kohli (62), Jacob Bethal (55), and Romario Shepherd (53) all delivered impressive half-centuries for the Royal Challengers Bangalore. Romario Shepherd’s performance was particularly striking, as he scored 53 runs off just 14 balls and was named Player of the Match for his efforts. This victory marks RCB’s eighth win in IPL 2025, bringing their total points to 16, and nearly confirming their place in the playoffs.
