On Saturday evening, Delhi is expected to experience a short period of rainfall, along with thunderstorms, lightning, and strong winds, as reported by the weather department.
The India Meteorological Department (IMD) has issued a ‘yellow’ alert, signaling residents to ‘Be Aware’, and forecasts wind gusts in the capital could reach speeds of 40-50 kilometers per hour.
According to the IMD, light rain, moderate thunderstorms, and lightning with gusty winds are anticipated in various areas of Delhi, including Jafarpur, Najafgarh, Dwarka, Palam, IGI Airport, Vasant Vihar, Vasant Kunj, Mehrauli, Tughlakabad, Chhattarpur, IGNOU, Ayanagar, and Deramandi. Similar weather conditions are also expected in parts of the National Capital Region, such as Gurugram, Faridabad, Manesar, and Ballabhgarh.
As a safety measure, residents are advised to remain indoors, avoid standing under trees, disconnect electronic devices, and keep away from water bodies and conductive materials.
In terms of temperature, the maximum was recorded at 35 degrees Celsius, which is 4.3 degrees below the seasonal average, while the minimum temperature was noted at 22.2 degrees Celsius, 2.5 degrees below normal.
Throughout the day, humidity levels varied between 82% and 53%.
Looking ahead, the weather department has predicted thunderstorms and rain for Sunday, with expected maximum and minimum temperatures around 35 degrees Celsius and 23 degrees Celsius, respectively.
