Introduction of Kia Clavis
In New Delhi, Kia is preparing to launch a new vehicle in India and has officially revealed the name Kia Clavis. The updated version of the Carens will be showcased on May 8, and a teaser video has been shared on Kia’s YouTube channel. It was previously announced that Kia would enhance the Carens lineup without discontinuing the existing model.
A Premium Model Above Carens
The new Kia Clavis will be presented as a more premium option than the Carens, featuring a distinct design. This new model’s appearance will significantly differ from the Carens, as shown in the teaser. The Clavis embodies Kia’s latest design philosophy, similar to that seen in other recent models like the Carnival, EV9, and Syros. The front end of the Clavis showcases a new LED headlamp arrangement with a three-pod setup and triangular housing, alongside a redesigned front grille.
Design Changes
The side profile of the new Kia Clavis remains largely unchanged, apart from updated alloy wheel designs. Significant interior upgrades are anticipated, including a panoramic sunroof, dual TFT screens for infotainment and a digital instrument cluster, a touch-sensitive climate control panel, ventilated seats, and Level 2 ADAS features.
Electric Variant of Clavis
There will also be an all-new electric variant of the Clavis, which will utilize the SEM platform with some design modifications to differentiate it from the internal combustion engine version. The Kia Clavis is expected to retain the powertrain options similar to the Carens, which includes a 1.5-liter naturally aspirated petrol engine, a 1.5-liter turbo petrol engine, and a 1.5-liter diesel engine.
Transmission choices will likely include a 6-speed manual, a 6-speed clutchless manual, a 6-speed torque converter automatic, and a 7-speed dual-clutch automatic. The fully electric Clavis will be introduced later, with its battery technology, motor, and specifications aligning with the other variants.
