**New Delhi.** Indiaโs leading car manufacturer, Maruti Suzuki, has confirmed that all its models will be equipped with six airbags as standard features. This means that every variant of each model will now include this safety feature. CEO R.C. Bhargava mentioned that the inclusion of six airbags in all cars is now standard. This raises the question of whether the prices of Maruti Suzuki cars might increase again.
**Focus on boosting the small car market**
The chairman of Maruti Suzuki further stated that for the growth of the automobile industry in India, it is crucial to enhance the small car segment. He pointed out that the market is currently sluggish, as only 12% of buyers can afford vehicles priced above Rs 12 lakh. As a result, the number of cars sold remains limited. The remaining 88% of car buyers are unable to purchase vehicles priced over Rs 10 lakh, which has led to a 9% decline in the small car segment.
**Updated models**
Recently, Maruti Suzuki has updated several of its budget-friendly models with the addition of six airbags, including the Eco, Alto K10, and Celerio. This safety feature has also been incorporated into the companyโs best-selling SUV, the Brezza.
**Models set to receive six airbags**
Maruti Suzuki is yet to update three of its popular models: Baleno, Fronx, and Ertiga, as well as Ignis, XL6, and S-Cross. Currently, the two Nexa models, Baleno and Fronx, offer six airbags in their top-end variants. Last year, Maruti Suzuki launched the New Dzire, which impressed everyone by achieving a 5-star rating for adult safety and a 4-star rating for child safety from Global NCAP. The New Dzire is the first in its category to receive such high safety ratings, along with features like six airbags, Electronic Stability Control (ESC), and Pedestrian Safety.
