Reno is gearing up to introduce its new 7-seater SUV called Borial in the Indian market. The design of the Borial will closely resemble that of the Duster and is expected to be launched in India in early 2026.

Highlights

– The Reno Borial is set to be launched in India in 2026.
– Its design will be akin to that of the Duster.
– The Borial will feature a panoramic sunroof and ventilated seats.

New Delhi. Since its launch in 2014, the Hyundai Creta has dominated the Indian car market. Prior to the Creta’s success, the Duster was a prominent player. Currently, the Mahindra XUV700 leads the affordable 7-seater SUV segment. However, Reno is now poised to enter both markets. The company is planning to unveil a new Duster by the end of this year and is also expected to launch a remarkable 7-seater Duster SUV.

Reno’s Sister Company – Dassia

On a global scale, Reno’s sister company, Desia, has already rolled out two new SUVs – the Duster and the Bigster. Among these, the Bigster has a 7-seater variant. Recently, Reno has confirmed that it will include the Bigster in its lineup. The brand has teased its new 7-seater SUV, which will be named Reno Borial, a name that was trademarked in India last year. It is anticipated that Reno will first introduce the Borial in the global market, with an Indian launch expected in early 2026.

Design from Duster

The design, features, and engine options of the Reno Borial will closely mirror those of the Duster. However, it will be lengthened compared to the 5-seater version. We can also expect the Borial to have larger wheels than the Duster. In the global market, the ground clearance of the Reno Borial is set at 220 mm. Inside, features such as a panoramic sunroof, ventilated seats, advanced driver-assistance systems, a 10-inch infotainment system, a digital instrument cluster, and a 3-spoke steering wheel are anticipated. Additionally, the Borial will be equipped with off-road capabilities including an AWD system with multiple terrain modes such as auto, snow, sand, off-road, and eco.

Engine and Power

While Reno India has yet to disclose specific details about the Borial’s powertrain, it is expected that the new SUV will feature engines similar to those in international variants. The first engine option may consist of a 1.6-liter petrol hybrid paired with an automatic transmission and two electric motors. This engine is capable of operating in pure electric mode for 80 percent of the time in urban traffic. Another option could be a 1.2-liter three-cylinder turbo-petrol engine equipped with mild hybrid technology, producing a peak power of 130 bhp and available with either a manual or automatic transmission.
